Chisinau
Chisinau is the capital of the Republic of Moldova and its largest city with a population of 795,000 inhabitants. Chisinau is Moldova's main industrial and commercial centre and is the most economically prosperous city in Moldova. The city provides the largest transportation hub in the country, and its international airport has connections to most major European capitals within 3 hours. Chisinau is also one of the greenest cities in Europe, and holds the Guinness world record for possessing the largest wine collection in the world.
The city has a broad range of educational facilities, with over 100,000 students. Most of the city’s population is fluent in at least Romanian and Russian, however English, French, Italian, German and Spanish are also widely spoken.
The IT market in Chisinau is close to 20,000 people and generates around 900 IT graduates per year. Historically, Moldova enjoys a rich tradition of high quality and complex engineering projects.
The IT sector is supported by the Moldovan government who are committed to its development. The national IT association in Moldova also plays an active role in consolidating the local IT community and their initiatives.
